People are exposed to food additives and colorings every day but these do not cause adverse effects in the majority of the population. Research has shown that there has been an increase in allergies and insensitivities. There are so many substances added to our food to enhance the color, the flavor or the shelf life of packaged foods. These may cause unpleasant symptoms in some people that are not full blown allergies, but food sensitivities or intolerances.
Intolerances differ significantly from allergies. Unlike allergies, intolerances may vary from situation to situation, while an allergy always produces the same reaction. Intolerances are caused by the body’s inability to process specific substances and may cause different symptoms in different people.
WHY DO I NEED IT?
Are you experiencing headaches, rashes, asthma, inflammation or hyperactivity?
Trying to identify the cause of chronic discomfort can be complicated when it doesn’t seem linked to a specific food, but intolerance and sensitivity test can help. Pinpointing specific food additive or coloring sensitivities or intolerances so you know what to avoid can produce dramatic relief of uncomfortable symptoms.
Some food additives and colorings have been linked to asthma, hyperactivity and cancer. Although many people do not have any adverse reactions or sensitivities, it may be healthier to avoid unnecessary substances in food.
OTHER RELEVANT TESTS:
People who purchased the Sensitivity and Intolerance – Food Additives/Colorings Panel also considered the Basic Check Up or the Sensitivity and Intolerance tests for Environmental Chemicals, Molds or Foods.
The Food Additives and Colorings Test measures reactivity to 20 food additives and colorings.
The test results will provide a report that graphically represents substances in groups:
Green: Indicates acceptable substances / no reaction (This is not an allergy test so allergens may be listed here.)
Yellow: Indicates a mild intolerance and these substances should be avoided if possible to decrease the sensitivity within the body
Orange: Indicates a moderate Intolerance and these substances should be avoided for a minimum of 3-6 months
Red: Indicates a severe Intolerance and these substances should be avoided for a minimum of 6 months.
